I recently attended a meeting and fact finding session sponsored by the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association. The discussion which was also attended by several members of the Scottsdale Planning Dept as well as a person from the State Land Trust Dept was somewhat contentious once residents got the picture of what could happen to thousands of precious Sonoran Desert acres. It’s clear N. Scottsdale residents don’t want any more commercial development along Scottsdale Rd between Jomax Road and Dynamite Blvd. Nor do they want to see approximately 3900 acres of state trust land developed for various housing projects of varying density on the east side of Pima Rd from Dynamite Blvd to Stagecoach Rd. This could also require enlarging Pima Rd from one lane in each direction to two in each direction. And we all want more traffic, don’t we? A resort could also be built as part of this rezoning near Stagecoach Rd and Legend Trail.
The vocal support and criticism was much stronger against rezoning the Scottsdale Scenic Drive area. See below “A Unique Community Service Timeline”. For more information go to www.thepeakaz.org.
